History
The founders, Shubham Jain and Manish Sugandhi, were previously founders of Perdix Business Solutions, a Kolkata-based design consultancy firm. When relocating from Kolkata to Bangalore, they were unable to find affordable furniture and other products, necessitating repeated purchases. This problem sparked the idea of product rental. Together, they launched GrabOnRent. Later, Aditya Sharma and Nikunj Agarwalla joined as founding members.[4][5]
The company operates in four major Indian cities: Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Gurgaon. In 2016, the company partnered with QuikrServices, the services arm of the Indian company, Quikr.[6]
About
Since its inception, GrabOnRent has provided furniture rental, home appliance rental, and fitness equipment rental services.[7][8] The company has partnerships with over 150 merchants in Bangalore alone, who list their products on the platform. In 2018, the company launched its "Garmi Ka Jugaad" campaign to address the increasing summer heat using air conditioning units and coolers.[9]
Capitalization
In 2016, the company raised $450K in pre-Series A funding from IvyCap Ventures and Unicorn Ventures.[4][10]
