Grace Sai Phaik Wah - born 1983 (age 40–41)) - is a Singapore-based, Malaysian social entrepreneur[1][2] and the CEO and co-founder of The Hub Singapore.[3] Recognized by international media as a contributor to Singapore's new entrepreneurship scene,[4] she has been credited with building "[places like] The Hub in Somerset [that] are becoming hives of startup activity".[5] In 2008, Sai founded the Indonesian social enterprise "Books for Hope"[6] with the aim of changing lives of children in remote and poor villages in Southeast Asia through education.[7]

Sai is also a global thought leader on social entrepreneurship.[8][9] She is currently an Advisor to the Malaysian government on its national initiative for social entrepreneurship through the Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Centre (MaGIC).[10] She also sits on the Fairness Advisory Board of Ben & Jerry’s Singapore and on the Board of Directors for the global Impact Hub Network.[11] She is a Social Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the INSEAD Business School[12] and was the former Head of Singapore for the global impact investor network, Toniic LLC.

Sai has delivered courses on Social Entrepreneurship at various universities and is a frequent speaker at international conferences including TEDx,[13] The Second International German Forum 2015,[14] The International Young Alumni Conference in Islamabad,[15] the Cities Summit in Tel Aviv,[16] the Social Innovation Conference in Moscow,[17] Future Enterprise Forum in Seoul, EMERGE in Oxford, and RMIT in Melbourne.

Awards & Recognitions[edit]

Sai has been recognized as Prestige Singapore’s Top 40 Under 40[20] and Cosmopolitan’s Top 12 Female Leaders in Singapore, 2014,[21] and is a United Nations Women Entrepreneurship Day Ambassador.[22] In 2014, she was named among the top 21 Singapore female entrepreneurs.[23]

Education[edit]

Sai holds an MBA with Distinction from Saïd Business School - Oxford University on a Skoll Foundation scholarship by Jeff Skoll, the co-founder of eBay.[24]
