Grace Wan

Grace Yuen Yee Wan (born October 5, 1982) is a Canadian actress, producer, director, musician, filmmaker, singer, and screenwriter. She has been featured in multiple roles in several music videos and movies. Her musical talent includes playing piano, guitar, bass, and drum.

Early life and education[edit]

Wan was born to Amy and Pak Cheung Wan in Edmonton, Alberta, and has two younger siblings. She took ballet classes at the age of five and moved with her family to Port Coquitlam, B.C. when she was seven. She attended Central Elementary School from grade 1 to 6 and joined the Brownies and Girl Guides Group.

At an early age, Wan took skating, singing, guitar, and piano lessons. From 1994-1996, she attended Citadel Middle School, and later from 1996-2000, she went to Riverside Secondary School, where she often showcased her piano and singing skills at talent shows. She received many certificates for best work habits as well as volunteering for the school. She received two certificates for level 5 and 6 piano from the Royal Conservatory of Music. Wan pursued Computer Office System at THEO BC school, graduated with distinction in a computer course in 2003, and was awarded the Most Hardworking Student.

She took acting classes at Westcoast Actors Studio, Moonstone Theatre, Vancouver Academy of Dramatic Arts, and Granville Actors Studio, receiving a certificate from the Westcoast Actors Studio. She pursued the Film and Digital Arts program at the Pacific Audio Visual Institute.

Career[edit]

Wan began working as an Office Assistant at the Mainstream Company. She currently works at the POCO Office Building. Wan worked as a Production Assistant for an independent movie of Blood Work Production. In 2006, she auditioned in the Canadian Idol season 4 in Vancouver, where she sang Greatest Love of All and Inside Your Heaven.

Wan's debut movie was a short romantic comedy, Shampoozled, where she played the role of an Asian homeowner. She was an extra for the fund-raising movie Graffiti Flowers. Her acting career took off with the supporting role, Jamie Fu, in a short drama movie, Family Portrait, which tells the story of a rich family celebrating Chinese New Year as they work hard to overcome a recent bankruptcy. In the action movie Acts of Vengeance, Wan played a customer, alongside Antonio Banderas, a fast-talking lawyer. Wan is known for her humanitarian work and for supporting her community.
