Graihagh Jackson is a climate change and science journalist, working as the host of a BBC podcast called The Climate Question.[1] [2]
Education
Jackson studied physical geography at The University of Manchester (BA) and then science communication at Imperial College London (MSc)[3]
Career
Jackson began her broadcast career at The Naked Scientists, a podcast based out of the University of Cambridge. There, she produced hour-long broadcasts for BBC 5 Live, ABC Radio National and podcasts, as well as articles and videos.[4] In 2017, she began freelancing for various outlets, including producing The Guardian's Science Weekly podcast [5], several of The Economist's podcasts and regularly produced and presented content for the BBC Radio Science Unit, including BBC Radio 4's Inside Science[6], CrowdScience[7] and The Best Thing Since Sliced Bread.[8]
On Sundays (2014-2017), Jackson worked as a broadcast journalist for BBC Radio Cambridgeshire, reporting from a satellite car across the county on food, farming and environmental issues.[9] In the autumn of 2019, Jackson was offered a contract as a senior broadcast journalist at the BBC, presenting one of the most requested programmes on the World Service, The Food Chain. [10] A year later, she was recruited to work as one of the lead presenters of the BBC's flagship podcast on our warming world, The Climate Question.[11]
She has interviewed many prominent figures, including Bill Gates[12], IPCC Chair Jim Skea[13], and Christiana Figueres, former Executive Secretary of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)[14]. Jackson also regularly contributes to BBC News output on climate change for outlets[15] including Newscast[16], The Global Story[17] and The Global News Podcast.[18]
Personal Life
Jackson is a mother to one child, with whom she lives in Cambridge.
