Dr. Grant Scott is the founder/curator of the United Nations of Photography www.unitednationsofphotography.com, a Senior Lecturer and Subject Co-ordinator: Photography at Oxford Brookes University, Oxford, a working photographer, documentary filmmaker, BBC Radio contributor and the author of Professional Photography: The New Global Landscape Explained (Routledge 2014), The Essential Student Guide to Professional Photography (Routledge 2015), New Ways of Seeing: The Democratic Language of Photography (Routledge 2019). His film Do Not Bend: The Photographic Life of Bill Jay www.donotbendfilm.com was first screened in 2018 at the Martin Parr Foundation, Bristol. He is the presenter of the A Photographic Life and In Search of Bill Jay podcasts.
Grant began his career in the art department at Elle magazine in 1985, where he rose to the position of Design Director before moving to Tatler magazine in 1991, which he art directed until 1999. He has also art directed Foto 8 magazine and Art Review and been the Editor of Professional Photographer magazine. He launched his own magazine for photographers and filmmakers titled Hungry Eye in 2011, which he edited and art directed for 12 issues.
