Greatcell Energy Limited is an Australian solar energy company developing perovskite solar cell 3rd generation thin-film solar cell technologies. The company was founded on the 19th of August 2019.[1] and purchased the assets of Greatcell Solar Limited after the company went into liquidation[2]. An existing Italian subsidiary of GreatCell Solar was purchased as a subsidiary of Greatcell Energy[3] alongside the Australian based subsidiary Greatcell Australia which was later founded in 2020[4].
Greatcell Energy opened a production plant in Bomen, New South Wales in March 2021[5].
In 2021 Greatcell Energy collaborated in the Graphene Flagship initiative project GRAPES which aimed to make cost-effective and stable graphene-enabled perovskite solar panels [6][7].
In October 2022 it was reported that Greatcell had achieved a 32% efficiency for an inorganic perovskite solar cell[8]
