Greg Fraser

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Greg Fraser (March 4, 1963) is a Canadian guitarist, singer, and songwriter born in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario. Fraser’s family moved to Niagara Falls when he was six years old, and he began learning to play guitar at age 10. As a teen he joined a local band called Lennex, at the same time coming into contact with former David Bowie guitarist Mick Ronson. Fraser and Lennex recorded an album with Ronson but the group soon disbanded, and the album was never released.

Lennex afforded Fraser an opportunity to gain management representation as an artist, and Fraser began auditioning singers for a new group with bassist Stevie Skreebs in 1982. This would eventually lead to Gerry McGhee joining Fraser and Skreebs in what would become Brighton Rock, following the addition of drummer Mark Cavarzan and keyboardist Martin Victor. Brighton Rock gained popularity on the strength of hit singles “We Came To Rock” and “Can’t Wait For The Night”, and would go on to earn two gold records and three Juno nominations. In 1988 Fraser was named Best New Guitarist at the Toronto Music Awards, beating out many other musicians including Jeff Healey.

After Brighton Rock broke up in 1992, Fraser wrote briefly with members of Triumph and joined Helix during touring for their 1993 It’s a Business Doing Pleasure album. In 2000 Fraser and Skreebs formed Fraze Gang, releasing two albums under that mantle before reforming Brighton Rock in 2012.

In 2017 Fraser formed a new band called Storm Force, adopting the melodies of Brighton Rock but also featuring the harder-edged influences of bands like UFO, Thin Lizzy, and Van Halen. Storm Force released their debut album Age of Fear in 2020 to critical acclaim worldwide.
