Greg Mathias presenting a linocut to the Secretary-General of WFUNA, Bonian Golmohammadi, Geneva, 2 November 2020

Greg Mathias (born 22 January 1967) is a French painter sculptor and art expert born in the southwest of France in the region of Dordogne.[1] A student of Riccardo Licata, he graduaded from the Paris École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in 1989.[2]

His works are good examples of the Neo Cubist movement. Mathias has introduced a sense of temporal perspective with multiple depictions of the same object, over time. To the traditional Cubist approach Mathias adds the possibility to perceive, through the same painting, different periods of time that the painted object went through.[3]

Mathias has created several monumental frescoes for a number of private as well as public areas. These can be seen, among others, in the classical Compte Rouge Hotel in Thonon, France as well as on the 30 meter high water tower of Croazou in Plounevez-Lochrist.

In 2020 he collaborated with WFUNA as part of the philanthropic art program of the organisation to produce a linocut on the necessity to defend multilateralism and cooperation. WFUNA went on to order the 2020 version of the United Nations day (24 October) poster with on the theme of "Fragile Peace".

Mathias presents similarities with Jacques Villon, Tamara de Lempicka, Henry Valensi, or Jean Souverbie.
