Greg Story
Dr. Greg Story is the 5th President of Dale Carnegie Training Tokyo Japan.
Trade Promotion and Diplomacy
From 1992–2003 Dr. Story was working for the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade), opening a new office in Nagoya (1992–2006) as a Trade Commissioner and Consul, running the Osaka office (1996–2001) as the Senior Trade Commissioner and Consul-General and, the Tokyo Office (2001–2003), ultimately becoming the most senior Trade diplomat in Japan and concurrently Minister in the Australian Embassy. As an Austrade Office leader, his teams in Osaka and Tokyo achieved the highest results globally for three years in a row. In Nagoya he hosted Australian Prime Minister Paul Keating and in Osaka, Prime Minister John Howard.
Business
Dr. Story established his own consulting business “Japan Business Consultancy” in Brisbane, Australia in 1988 and later established the Japan Desk for Jones Lang Wootten in Brisbane office (1989–1992).
After spending twelve years (1992–2003) promoting Australian goods and services into Japan, he joined the Shinsei Retail Bank, Tokyo (2003–2007). He worked in a number of roles, including running the Platinum Banking Division responsible for the Shinsei Bank Branch network results. His final role was interim joint head of the Shinsei Retail Bank.
He joined the National Australia Bank as Japan Country Head (2007–2010).
In November 2010, he joined Dale Carnegie Training Tokyo Japan as President and continues in that role. He was a Board member of the International Dale Carnegie Franchise Association for nine years (2012–2021) and has been both a member and Co-Captain of the Products iTeam since 2012. He has twice been awarded the One Carnegie Award, selected by his Franchisee peers for this honour in both 2018 and 2021.
Education
Dr. Story was in the first intake of students into the Modern Asian Studies faculty in Griffith University, Brisbane, Australia, graduating with a B.A. in 1977 and a B.A. Honours in 1978. He won a Monbusho Scholarship to study Japanese language at Sophia University in Tokyo (1979–1981) and completed a M.A in Comparative Culture, studying Political Science and International Relations (1981–1983) at Sophia. He returned to Griffith University to prepare for his fieldwork for his Ph.D. (1983–1984). As a Japan Foundation Fellow, he conducted fieldwork for his doctorate in Tokyo from 1984–1985. From 1985–1989 he completed his Ph.D. thesis and was awarded his doctorate from Griffith University in 1990. In 2012 he was awarded the Griffith University Business School Outstanding Alumnus Award. He is currently an Adjunct Professor in the Griffith University Business School.

Sports Dr. Story has been an award-winning Karate athlete, national coach, international referee and Queensland state Board member and is currently a 6th dan in Traditional Shitoryu Karate (糸東流).
