Greg David Upchurch is an American musician. He is best known as a drummer of the rock band 3 Doors Down, replacing Daniel Adair in 2005. He has also worked with artists and groups including Puddle of Mudd, Eleven, and Chris Cornell.[1]
Biography
After relocating to Los Angeles, Upchurch joined the band Eleven and later collaborated with Chris Cornell. He appeared on Cornell's debut solo album, Euphoria Morning (1999).[2]
Upchurch later became part of Puddle of Mudd and appeared on the band's album Life on Display (2003). His work during this period contributed to his growing profile within mainstream rock music.[1]
Upchurch joined 3 Doors Down in 2005. After initially working with the band on tour, he later became a full member.[3] He has since appeared on the studio albums 3 Doors Down (2008), Time of My Life (2011), and Us and the Night (2016), and has remained part of the group's touring lineup since the late 2000s.[1]
In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Upchurch released his first solo single "Skin to Skin". He wrote and recorded the song while quarantined at home, performing all of the music and vocals himself.[4] The recording took place at the studio used by 3 Doors Down, located near his home. In April, he released a music video for the single in which he plays all the instruments himself.[5]
Personal life
Outside of music, Upchurch has been involved in business ventures in his hometown. He opened a coffee shop in Kingston, Oklahoma, marking a return to the community where he was raised.[6]
