Gregg Louis
Education
Louis received his bachelor of Fine Arts at Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri.
In 2009 he went to the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Maine, and in that same year he received a master's degree from the School of Visual Arts in New York. [1]
Awards & Grants
Louis is a recipient of various awards and grants including the alumni scholarship award from the School of Visual Arts in 2009. That same year he received the Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture Fellowship. In 2011 he was given the SNS REAAL Fonds project grant in Utrecht, Netherlands, following this, in that same year, he received the project grant from VBS Fonds in Utrecht. In 2012 he was granted the Emdash Award from the Frieze Foundation in London, England. [1][2]
Solo Exhibitions
Gregg Louis has been a part of many solo exhibitions including, in 2011 "Everyday UFOs" at Nohra Haime Gallery[2] and "It, or the Something in the lake" at the Hotel Maria Kapel in Hoorn, Netherlands.[3]
In 2013 he showed "Psychic Menagerie" at the Nohra Haime Gallery.[2]
In 2015, "Blind Spot" was exhibited at HVERFISGALLERÍ in Reykjavik, Iceland [4] and "Likeness" in New York at the Nohra Haime Gallery.[2]
In 2017 he exhibited at NH Galeria in Cartagena, Colombia.[5]
He will be showing in 2018 in New York City and Saint Louis, Missouri. [1][2]
Group Exhibitions
Louis has also shown in select exhibitions at Nohra Haime Gallery, The Historic Lemp Brewery in Saint Louis, Missouri, St. Cecilia's Convent in Brooklyn, New York, in Amsterdam, Netherlands and Concertina Gallery in Chicago, Illinois in 2010.
In 2011, at Los Caminos Gallery in Saint Louis, Missouri,[6] Vaudville Park and Interstate Projects in Brooklyn, New York.[2]
In 2012 Pulse Miami, The Willows and The Shirley in Brooklyn, New York.[2]
In 2013 he was part of Pulse New York.[2]
In 2014 he was in Artbo, New York, Frieze at Salon 94 in London, England [7], Nohra Haime Gallery and Here Art Center in New York.
In 2015 at the Nohra Haime Gallery in New York and Sister Gallery in Brooklyn, New York.[2]
In 2016 at the Visual Arts Gallery in New York[8], Postmasters Gallery in Austria which then traveled to Galerist in Istanbul, Turkey.[2][9]
In 2017 at Monaco in Saint Louis, Missouri, Nohra Haime Gallery[2] and Skowhegan's New York Program Space in New York[2] and the World Chess Hall of Fame in Saint Louis, Missouri.[10]
Curatorial Projects
Gregg Louis has also been part of many various curatorial projects including one in 2009 at the New Red House Chinese Restaurant in Brooklyn, New York called "The Williamsburg Art Wok".[11]
In 2012 he curated "Standard Deviation" at the Shirey in Brooklyn, New York and in 2013 "Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World" at the Nohra Haime Gallery in New York.[2]
