Gregorio Burgos Figueroa (1850 – January 1922) was a Chilean merchant, farmer and politician who served as a member of the Senate of Chile.

A member of the Radical Party, Burgos represented Concepción in the Senate from 1912 to 1918.[1]

Biography

Burgos was born in Concepción in 1850, the son of Gregorio Burgos and Isabel Figueroa. After studying humanities at a private institution, he became involved in commerce, industry and agriculture.[1]

He held several public and civic positions in Concepción. He became the city's first mayor under the Autonomous Commune system in 1891 and served as Intendant of Concepción from 1905 to 1910. He was also one of the founders of the newspaper El Sur in 1882.[1]

In 1900, Burgos was elected deputy for Concepción, Talcahuano, Lautaro and Coelemu, but left the Chamber after the election of Gonzalo Urrejola was validated in October of that year. He was subsequently elected senator for Concepción for the 1912–1918 term.[1]

In 1919, President Juan Luis Sanfuentes asked Burgos to attempt to form a cabinet during a political crisis, but his efforts were unsuccessful.[1]

Burgos died in Santiago in January 1922.[1]
