Gregory Gandrud

Gregory Gandrud (born February 25, 1961) is an American politician and businessman. In 2002, he was elected to the Carpinteria City Council[1] [2][3] and has held a number of elected positions in the Republican Party. In 2005, he was appointed by California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to the California Recreational Trails Committee.[4] In 2008, he ran unsuccessfully for the 35th District State Assembly seat held by incumbent Pedro Nava.[5] In 2011, Gregory Gandrud was unanimously elected as the first openly-gay member of the California Republican Party Board of Directors.[6] In July 2016, Gandrud attended the Republican National Convention as an Alternate Delegate for Donald J. Trump [7] and attended Trump's inauguration in January 2017[8] and continues to be an active Trump media surrogate. The Gandrud family has been active in Republican politics for four generations, beginning with Gregory Gandrud's great-great grandfather, P.A. Gandrud, who served as a member of both the assembly and the senate in the Minnesota legislature [9]. P.A. Gandrud's grandson, Gary Gandrud, was the most recent Honorary Consul General in Minneapolis for the Kingdom of Norway.
