Guangzhou Concord Cancer Center (GCCC) is a private oncology hospital in Guangzhou, Guangdong, China. It provides cancer prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation services.[1][2]
The hospital opened in June 2021 following an agreement between Concord Healthcare Group and a public cancer center in Guangzhou.[1][3] Its proton therapy center began full-scale operations in December 2024.[4]
History
An agreement to establish the hospital was reached in 2010 between Concord Healthcare Group and a public cancer center in Guangzhou.[3]
Installation of the proton therapy facility included an accelerator, rotating gantries, beamline magnets, equipment cabinets and treatment couches.[5] The facility has four gantry rooms.[6]
GCCC is a full member of the Union for International Cancer Control.[1]
In May 2024, the hospital received the "Third Session China Good Hospital Construction Demonstration Award" (第三届中国美好医院建设示范奖) at the 2024 China Hospital Construction Conference awards ceremony.[7]
In December 2025, the center was designated as one of 27 additional medical institutions under a Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area program. Under the program, designated hospitals may use drugs and medical devices approved in Hong Kong and Macao.[8]
Proton therapy
The center uses a Varian ProBeam proton therapy system. Installation and commissioning were carried out during the COVID-19 pandemic.[6]
The proton therapy center began full-scale operations in December 2024 and treated its 1,000th patient in July 2026.[4]
Research
In 2024, researchers affiliated with the center co-authored a study on a GPU-accelerated Monte Carlo dose engine for pencil-beam scanning proton therapy and a consensus paper on proton stereotactic body and hypofractionated radiotherapy for thoracic malignancies.[9][10]
