Gulai masin ikan or gulai pangek masin or pangek masin is a dish originating from West Sumatra, Indonesia. This dish is a variant of curry with the main ingredients being fish. The fish used can be sea water fish or freshwater fish, but the commonly used include cob, mackerel, snapper, and carp. The distinguishing characteristic of this dish is the thick yellow broth color that arises due to the use of turmeric. In addition, this dish has a complex flavor ranging from savory, slightly sour, slightly salty, slightly sweet, and spicy contained in this dish. In addition, all parts of fish can be used in this dish either intact or only a few parts, which the most favorite part of the community is the fish head.[1]
