Gypsy Wood

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Gypsy Wood (born October 17, 1978)[citation needed] is an Australian-born dancer, comedian and model currently living in Las Vegas, NV.

Career

Wood made waves in 2009 when she leaped out of a birthday cake to do a striptease, performing her political satire act as John Howard at Bob Hawke’s 80th birthday party at the Sydney Opera House. She was hired by Mr. Hawke's wife, Blanche d'Alpuget.[1]

She created and starred in a number of shows at Fringe Festivals around the world, including Comic Strip, which combined burlesque and standup comedy in an homage to the career of legendary comedian Lenny Bruce at Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2011.[2] In 2015 she brought her comedy magic show Peter and Bambi Heaven to the Lorne Arts Festival in Australia.[3] The following year, her sequel creation Peter & Bambi Heaven – The Magic Inside was nominated for one of the world's top awards for comedy at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, The Barry Award.[4] On its 70th anniversary of the Edinburgh Fringe, Gypsy brought Peter and Bambi Heaven: When Love Becomes Magic to the festival, coining the term parody disaster magic for her unique show.[5] Gypsy currently stars in the Spiegelworld show OPM at Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, one of the few founding artists remaining in the show which started in 2018. She added plate-spinning to her comedic repertoire during the pandemic and added it to the show when it relaunched in 2021.[6]
