HD 12846 is a G2V star located 75.6 light years away, in the constellation of Aries. Alternative names for the star are Hip 9829, SAO 75144 and BD+23 285. As of December 2020, no exoplanets have been discovered around this Sun-like star.[1][2] HD 12846 is considered by Turnbull and Tarter (2011) as one of the 25 habitable stars within 25 parsecs, as part of the Catalog of Nearby Habitable Systems.[3]

The star has a metallicity of -0.23 Fe/H, and an age of 3.1 billion years. It is likely that HD 12846 does not have any giant planet within 2 AU, which could potentially allow the existence of a stable habitable zone in the stellar system.[4] With an apparent magnitude of 6.89, the star is visible to the naked eye as a faint star.[5][6]
