HRO Today
HRO Today, short for Human Resource Outsourcing Today (or Outsourcing Today)[1] is a monthly trade publication for human resources professionals, launched in 2002 by SharedXpertise (formerly Crossing Media)[2][3][4][5] The magazine provides extensive coverage of how companies reduce the cost of hiring and training their employees.[6]
It also compiles an annual list of customer satisfaction ratings, naming the top HR related companies for various categories based on customers feedback and ratings,[7] and also presents the HRO Today Service and Technology Association awards.[8][6] It also runs a forum and a research service.[9][10]
Audience[edit]
Its collective audience, including its forums, reports to reach "over 180,000 senior-level HR decision-makers."[11][9][12] The awards have been publicized in The New York Times and CNBC.[6][13][14] A new award titled "Most Admired Employer" was launched in January 2019.[15]
Recruitment Process Outsourcing[edit]
Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO)[16] is one of the services that, along with "predictive modeling (and) mid-revenue cycle" management, performed by an outside service provider on behalf of a company's Human Resource department when the firm chooses to outsource.[17] HRO Today[18] evaluates these services, in particular RPO, and issues awards those companies which excel in specific niche areas therein.[19][20]
Impact[edit]
The magazine was an early user of the term "Self-sourcing"[21] in an article titled "Insourcing, Outsourcing? How about Self-sourcing?" that mined Wikipedia's history of a pair of banks that merged decades ago as Standard Chartered and, after September 11, rebuilt its personnel department in an innovative way. The term Selfsourcing is a subset of the former.
A pair of 2008 books described HRO Today as "a national trade publication"[3], and a journal that "provides a resource guide."[10] The magazine publisher's various awards have recognition within the industry[15], government[11], and general media. [5][6]
