Department Structure[edit]

Computer Science[edit]

A focus is put on collaborative projects utilizing agile development practices. Completion of a final thesis paper is mandatory, with an accompanying software project.[19] Final research projects are often realized in cooperation with partner companies.[20]

The department for computer science also pays close attention to economics. Fundamentals of accounting, double-entry bookkeeping and managerial topics are mandatory, complemented by work in training firms.[21][22] As a special feature, the department is offering bilingual classes with English as part of a CLIL programme for several years and also offers extracurriculars in topics such as technical sales management and business etiquette.[23]

Information Technology[edit]

This department offers training with a focus on media technology or network technology. Students are able to choose one of the following specializations:[24]

Network Technology[24][edit]

Media Technology[24][edit]

Electronics and Technical Informatics[edit]

Students at this department learn the essentials of hardware and software design while also focusing on subjects such as sustainable development.[25] Core subjects include:

In the latter semesters students are able to choose one of the following specializations:

Intelligent Communication Systems[25][edit]

Sustainable e-Technologies[25][edit]

Electrical Engineering[edit]

This department offers three branches of education: The higher departments for control engineering and the technical school for electrical engineering. All training branches together offer a basic technical and humanistic education. During the first semesters, students are taught the practical handling of various technologies, working and production methods in workshop lessons. From the sixth semester onwards, practical lessons are given in the laboratory.[26][27]

Control Engineering[edit]

A major focus is on imparting specialist knowledge about automated and controlled processes and their use in industry and research. This also includes the development of intelligent products.[26]

Electrical Engineering[edit]

The focus of the more practically oriented training at the technical school is to provide the broadest possible training in the subject areas of electrical engineering. Thanks to the 4-year practical workshop training, training for a wide range of professions is provided after graduation from the technical school.[26]
