Company History
Originally named GlobalFit, HUSK was founded in 1992 by John Cassady as a national discount gym network. As the industry expanded, the term “fitness” began to be applied not only to working out, but to mental health, nutrition and more.
Frank Napolitano assumed the role of President and CEO in 2006, followed by Richard E. Penn in August 2012.
In January 2017, Tony Frick, Esq. was tapped to lead GlobalFit as President and CEO. The company, which employed 33 health and technology professionals, pivoted from its fitness focus and introduced new wellness technology solutions—both organically and through acquisition—in the areas of mental health and nutrition.
In June 2019, GlobalFit acquired The Charge Group, a provider of insurance-funded workplace health and nutrition programs, led by its Founder Mike McGrath, in a cash and stock transaction.
In September 2022, the company rebranded to HUSK and expanded offerings to six wellness verticals. Revenue is generated from employers and insurers paying SaaS (software as a service) fees as well as from being an in-network medical provider (mental health, nutrition, physical therapy.)
The August 2023 acquisition of Nutrition in Motion (NIM) opened a new service vertical whereby HUSK technology is sold to independent clinicians to operate their businesses and engage patients. The acquisition positioned HUSK as the largest network of Registered Dietitians in the U.S.
In January 2024, Erin Markowski, who started with GlobalFit in 2012 as an Account Manager and was named COO in 2019, was named HUSK President & COO.
