Halcon (Arabic: هالكن سيستمز) is an Emirati aerospace and defense company, headquartered in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.[1] A subsidiary of the EDGE Group cluster of Missiles & Weapons. Halcon is specialized in precision-guided munitions, loitering munitions and unmanned combat aerial vehicles.[2]
History
The Halcon company was founded in 2017 in Tawazun Industrial Park in Abu Dhabi by Yas Holding company, later on Halcon was merged into EDGE Group.[3] Halcon has 500 employees and 3 research & development testing labs and 8 manufacturing and assembly facilities.
In February 2019, the defense and security development fund of Tawazun Economic Council signed a funding agreement worth AED193 million ($52.5 million) with Halcon Systems.[4] In November 2019, Halcon signed a US$1 billion (AED3.6 billion) contract to deliver its Desert Sting-16 (DS-16) range of precision guided weapons to the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces. [5] Also in November 2021, Halcon Systems won an AED3.2 billion (US$880 million) contract from the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces for its Thunder and Desert Sting range of precision guided munitions.[6]
