Hallucinogens

Hallucinogens are defined as a type of drug that changes a person's perception of reality. They can also be known as psychedelic drugs. Hallucinogens can make people see, feel, and hear things that are not there or distort their reality. Hallucinogens became very popular in the late 1960's in what was then called the Summer of Love (1967). Hallucinogens are classified as illegal substances with no known medicinal value. There are hundreds of different species of plants that contain compounds that can alter the user's state of consciousness. Some of these compounds can be used in religious ceremonies, healing rituals, and for predicting the future.
