HaloHub

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

HaloHub is a community-operated news and media website producing content relating to the Halo franchise.

The site publishes a mixture of first-party, long-format opinionated articles, interviews with notable members of the Halo community, and reports upon news relating to the Halo franchise.[1][2]

HaloHub also provides an aggregate source for Youtube and Twitch.TV content relating to the Halo franchise, accomplished through the use of Application Programming Interfaces (API's), and web discussion forums.

History

HaloHub was launched on September 20th, 2021[3] and features first-party news reporting, video content, livestreams and forums.

As is commonplace with community-operated gaming publications, the site’s operators have not publicly disclosed their real identities and instead operate using pseudonyms.

Early Success

On September 12th, 2021, HaloHub speculated upon the possibility of an early release of Halo Infinite to coincide with the 20th anniversary of Xbox and Halo: Combat Evolved.[4] The site provided a large body of evidence for this assertion, including evidence from third-party sources alongside their own investigative research. These claims were subsequently reported upon in Forbes, NME and PCGamer; in addition to several other gaming-related publications.[5][6][7][8] HaloHub's reporting went viral on Twitter during this time, earning the organisation’s account thousands of new followers in a short timespan.[9] The site claims to have received half a million page views during this time and over two million impressions on social media; they also claim to have received death threats and experienced DDoS attacks on their web infrastructure due to scepticism of their reporting.[10]

A surprise early launch of Halo Infinite in the form of a multiplayer Beta was announced and released, as HaloHub had predicted, on November 15th, 2021.[11]
