Hamid Towfigh

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Hamid Towfigh is a criminal defense attorney, television legal analyst, and former gang murder prosecutor with the elite Hardcore Gang Division of the Bureau of Specialized Prosecutions in the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.[1]. He was hired by District Attorney Gil Garcetti in July 1999 as a Deputy D.A. He was the lead attorney in numerous celebrity-related cases, including those of Rose McGowan, Ricky Manning[2], Dr. Dre[3], G Unit (Young Buck)[4], Master P.[5], Adriana Lima, RuPaul Charles, Catherine Oxenberg, Silk the Shocker, and Chris Douridas.[6]

He has appeared on numerous television and radio programs as a legal commentator, including CNN, Associated Press, Reuters, MTV, VH1, Court TV, Extra, Entertainment Tonight, ESPN, ABC, CBS, NBC, KTLA, Headline News, The Daily Journal, Los Angeles Times, Billboard, The Hollywood Reporter, Long Beach Press-Telegram, The Daily Breeze, The Daily Bruin, and Examiner. He gained prominence when he appeared on CNN with O.J. Simpson prosecutor Marcia Clark and opined that Conrad Murray, the physician charged with the death of singer Michael Jackson, should have been charged with second-degree murder under an implied malice murder theory, instead of with manslaughter, which Murray was charged with and eventually convicted of.[7]

Towfigh was the primary legal analyst in the televised Aurora, Colorado theatre shooting murder case of James Holmes. Specifically, he discussed the challenges in that case of finding a panel of fair and impartial jurors, noting that the goal was not to find jurors ignorant of the murder case but rather jurors "who can be impartial."[8]
