Hamza Zarei (born February 22, 1986, in Jwanro, East Kurdistan) is a Kurdish filmmaker and director. He started his artistic career in The director's short film “Song of Hands” (in Kurdish: لاژەی دەستەکان) and has participated in more than sixty international short film festivals and won four best film awards. The publicly performed play “Suddenly Abbas” (Persian: ناگهان عباس) won more than fifteen certificates of appreciation for him and his group at festivals across Iran.
Activity and awards
Hamza Zarei, who ranked 12th in the Iranian national examination in 2012, entered the Tehran University of Art and began his artistic activities the same year. In 2012, he was the secretary of the audience committee of the 11th National Short Film Festival. Together with the exhibition group, he organized the first Tehran Silent Film Festival in 2015 and was again the secretary of the audience committee. Hamza Zarei's first experience was in the short film Song of Hands (in Kurdish: لاژەی دەستەکان). The film won four Best Film Awards at the 6th International Short Film Festival.[1]
