Hanabie. (花冷え。, written as HANABIE.) is a japanese Metalcore-Band from Kichijōji, founded in 2015.
History[edit]
The band was formed in 2015 within their school music club of their High School in Kichijōji by the signers Yukina and Matsuri (who is also playing the guitar in the band), the bassist and backing vocalist Hettsu as well as the drummer Kaede in June 2016.[1][2] Kaede left the group in the following year and was replaced by Boa, who again left the group in 2018. Only in the year 2020 could the position of the drummer be occupied again by Sae.
Their first live shows were played in Shinjuku and Tachikawa. The group celebrated their graduation from school with a concert at the Cyclone in Shibuya.[1]
In 2018, the band released a self-directed, six-song EP with the name Kaika Sengen, which has been produced by Crystal Lake-drummer Gaku Taura. In 2021, the band released their first complete studio album Otome Kaikaku. The production expenses were mostly covered through Crowdfunding.[3][4] The album again was produced by Taura.[5]
Late 2022 and early 2023 the band released two singles under the name NEET Game and Osaki ni shitsurei shimasu (Pardon Me, I have to go), where the latter one was produced by DJ Yuyoyuppe and includes a guest appearance from Seiyū Aki Toyosaki.[6] Furthermore it was announced, that the band will appear at the Dynamo Metal Fest in the Netherlands in August of the same year. More appearances at festivals, such as Metaldays in Slovenia and the Blue Ridge Rock Festival in the United States were confirmed shortly after.[7][8]
Music[edit]
HANABIE. plays a rather classic variant of Metalcore from the late 2000s and mix it with elements from japanese pop. Musical influences from groups like Attila, Babymetal, Crossfaith or Enter Shikari are recognized.
All songs are written in japanese and are composed by guitarist Matsuri.
