Hangzhou Qiantang F.C. (Chinese: 杭州钱唐足球俱乐部) is an amateur Chinese football club that currently participates in the Zhejiang Super League. The team is based in Hangzhou, Zhejiang.
History[edit]
The club was founded on September 8th, 2004 as Hangzhou City Angel and competed in amateur leagues. In 2005 it was renamed as Hangzhou Zhipu due to sponsorship.
After competing in local leagues composed of both amateur teams from the city of Hangzhou and across Zhejiang Province for a decade, the club renamed itself as Hangzhou Ange in 2015.[1]
In 2017, the club entered a collaboration with two other amateur teams from Hangzhou, Hangzhou Qimeng and Hangzhou T60, forming a new club Hangzhou Wuyue Qiantang (its name derived from the historical kingdom of Wuyue that Hangzhou was once the capital of, as well as the historical name of the city, Qiantang) to aim for promotion to professional football, while itself remains an amateur club.[2]
The club was renamed as Hangzhou Qiantang in 2020, following the withdrawal of Hangzhou Wuyue Qiantang from China League Two.
