Hanna Amin
Hanna Amin is an aspiring Author and is most known for her appearance on The Great Australian Spelling Bee (season 2). She is a lover of reading and spelling, and is a very intelligent young person.
Early Life
Hanna has been described as a “Voracious reader and lover of words”. She resides in Chelsea, and has always been naturally talented, being able to “spell and write better than most of us”, according to Leah Goulis from kidspot.com.au. She has been described as a maths whiz and is highly intelligent in many fields. She has been described as the “model child”, according to her mother, Rahna, and has always been naturally smart since she was an infant. “She was really smart ever since she was a baby.”. Hanna has had a normal upbringing, according to her mother, thinking that she is nothing but the norm; “I never really knew because I had no one to compare her to. I thought it was normal.”
I’ve always given her books. I never taught her to read as such, but just exposed her to books,” her mother says, demonstrating her love for reading. “The only hard part is trying to keep up with her demand for books. It’s hard to go to the library so many times a week. You know that saying: ‘They’re eating me out of house and home?’ well she’s reading us out of house and home!”. Hanna has Loved reading ever since she was a kindergartener, her mother stating “When Hanna was in kindergarten, she couldn’t understand why other children couldn’t read and she could,” says mum Rahna, adding: “When she started school, she was already reading Harry Potter books!”. Hanna has a very steady love for reading, demonstrated later in life when she becomes an author herself. “I’m a voracious reader; I read about four or five books at most per day and I picked up most of my vocabulary from the different types of books that I like to read,”. Her love of reading is expressed through her other love of vocabulary.
Hanna’s love of vocabulary was established through her love of books. She says, “Whenever I came across a new word that I hadn’t seen before in a book, I instantly committed it to memory using memory techniques called mnemonics.”. She has described that her favourite words to spell are “magnanimous, antidisestablishmentarianism and floccinaucinihilipilification”. Her least favourites are the ones in where there are silent letters within them; “Words such as ‘arabesque’ or ‘kamikaze’ don’t sound the same way as they’re spelt — so you have to memorise them to know them,” “They’re the most fiendish types of words.”
Her mother saw her as normal, up until she won a spelling award from the University of NSW; “When she was in year three, Hannah won an award for spelling from the University of NSW. All schools were tested in the country and the kids who were at the top one percent won a medal. And she got one of them. I guess that’s when I realised, she was quite good at it,”. Hanna placing in the top 1% of the country gave her mother an insight into Hanna’s intelligence, stating “Teachers have always said that she was smart, but I’ve always said there is room for improvement! I’m so proud of my child, but I do think there is more that she can learn.”. Hanna has been pushed throughout her academic career, and has a clear goal set ahead of her.

He is seriously regretting the job, after his daughter turns out to be the cause behind a series of unfortunate accidents, an evil mother and daughter return after expulsion in disguise and a child has an unfortunate incident including falling from a tree and now the students are all bitter and sniping at each other. Mix that up with a suspenseful abduction of a baby, a tyrant looking to compete with The Guardian who is actually a criminal, and a stressful scholarship exam, The Guardian, dubbed the nickname by his students, is seriously worn out. The news of his fiancé-to-be turning out to be responsible for a lot of the drama is too much for him. It's lucky that he has several willing young crime fighters in his school.
Written by eleven-year-old Hanna Amin, this book is funny and suspenseful at the same time. It describes life at a fictional boarding school for children with ultimately rich parents - but is that always a good thing?”. The Great Australian Spelling Bee (Season 2)
Hanna’s mum, Rahna, describes Hanna’s aspiration to join the Great Australian Spelling Bee, quoting “Hanna watched the first series of Spelling Bee and thought she could do it too.” This idea became more of a reality for Hanna, as she progressed through the rounds. “She did the speed test by herself. Then there was a really long process to get into the show. First she did the speed test, then the top 15 percent are selected, then you have a skype interview with a producer, another test, then a panel meeting, another test, and then a meeting with a psychologist. It’s quite a big process.”
With Hanna’s interview with the Herald Sun, she is quoted saying “I never actually thought I’d end up on a televised spelling bee — never ever. Every day I have to pinch myself to remind myself that, yes, I’ve actually made it.” She is very humble about her credits and accolades and can be. Seen within Season 2 of the Great.
