Hannah Gorst is a self taught, emerging oil painter located in Torquay, on the Surf Coast. Gorst builds her paintings around colour and light to create pictures of serene summertime landscapes and bright relaxing areas. Her work is inspired by lifes simple pleasures, such as nature, the sun and the ocean, as she draws inspiration from her upbringing in both New South Wales and Torquay. Hannah is currently in a relationship with Ben Hole.[1]

Early Life and Education

Gorst was born in Manly and grew up with regular visits to Newcastle, of which both places serve as inspiration to her works today.[1] Gorst then moved to Torquay where she completed her secondary education at Belmont High School, becoming a school captain in 2022,[2]

Art career

Gorst favours oil painting as her method of expression, and she enjoys exploring figurative compositions in both interior and exterior settings. In 2022, whilst still in school Gorst released two artworks, "Newcastle Ocean Baths", a depiction of the swimming baths with a pictureesque view of the ocean, and "Homelife", a colorful depiction of a modern bathroom. Both of which would be the catalyst for Gorsts breakthrough, as they were displayed in the Geelong Gallery in early 2023[3]
