Hannah Victoria Holmes (born on July 8, 2005) is an author, motivational speaker, and the first girl to have earned all the merit badges in Scouts BSA.[1] Her stories as a writer and speaker, which often take inspiration from her personal life, have received widespread critical praise and media coverage.

Early Life

Hannah Victoria Holmes was born on July 8, 2005, in Palm Beach, Florida. Her father, Courtney James Holmes, is a news anchor for WFTV Channel 9; her mother, Kristine Gale Holmes, is a homemaker who previously worked as a top Paychex sales executive. Holmes has Norwegian heritage, and her great uncle, Torolf Rein, was the Chief of Defense in Norway from 1989 to 1994. Holmes's great-great-uncle on her mother's side was a resistance fighter who hid ships from the Nazis during WW2 in the fjords of the Norwegian Sea. She spent her early years on a farm in North Florida that her grandparents owned. Holmes identifies as Christian. She attended preschool at the Saint Andrews School, before transferring to become a full-time homeschool student at age 5. While in Palm Beach, Holmes was known for modeling the Lilly Pulitzer brand. She relocated to Orlando in 2011 to pursue "bigger opportunities". She broke into the martial arts scene by becoming the first girl and youngest person at her school, the Academy of Martial Arts, to earn the black belt rank. When asked why she had spent nine hours a week for eight years training, Holmes said, "I wanted to show people they can succeed at their goals, even when that might seem hard or even impossible to do."

Education

At age 8, Holmes became interested in theater and performed in seven Repertory Academy productions. She later shifted her focus towards writing and public speaking engagements, but credits her early experiences with theater as "giving me the courage to go up in front of an audience and embrace my fears." Holmes spent her summers taking advanced classes at Full Sail University and the Melrose Center on editing, acting, public speaking, and audience engagement.

Once girls were allowed into the Boy Scouts in 2019, Holmes joined the program and used it as a full-time school curriculum. She earned every merit badge the program offers in November that same year, becoming the first girl to do so in the organization's history. She then went on to earn Eagle Rank in November 2020. Holmes writes that her "experiences with scouting propelled me into writing and public speaking as a way to inspire others to achieve their goals too." Holmes graduated High School at age 14 and began working on her degree and career as a motivational speaker full time in late 2020.

Career

After her accomplishments with the Scouts were aired on national news networks such as Good Morning America[2], ABC News Live[3], and ABC World News Now, Holmes began receiving offers to speak at events on a local and national level. She has spoken at engagements across the United States, including several Golden Eagle Events alongside Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, the President of Valencia College Sandy Shugart[4], and at the Dr. Phillips Rotary Club, Silver Spurs Rodeo and Inaugural Class of Female Eagle Scouts 2021 Recognition Banquet.[5][6]

Through her message of "inspiring others to achieve their goals", Holmes began receiving support on an international level, gaining thousands of online followers, fan mail, and invites to speak at future events. "This is what made me realize what a huge impact we can have based on what we say and do, and that by encouraging others we really can make a positive difference."

Do BIG: A Self-Help Guide to Getting Your Goals and Building Better Habits

Holmes's first book, Do BIG: A Self Help Guide to Getting Your Goals and Building Better Habits is set to be released in June of 2021 and is about "inspiring young people to achieve incredible things."
