Hannes Barnard is a South African-born author. He lives in Johannesburg, South Africa.

His debut novel was the Afrikaans book, Halley se komeet[1]. This historical coming-of-age novel was released in 2019 by Wenkbrou (an imprint of LAPA Publishers).

In 2020 his teenage novel, Wolk[2], was released. This is a pre-apocalyptic friendship story about shared first experiences and the end of the world. Barnard was shortlisted for the Kyknet-Rapportprys[3] in 2021 for Wolk.

Roet[4], the follow-up to Wolk was released in 2021 to critical acclaim. This is the second book in the Wolk trilogy.

In early 2022 his first English book, Halley's Comet[5] was released worldwide. It was released in South Africa by Penguin Random House South Africa[6] and in the rest of the world by Catalyst Press.

In March 2022 his first political thriller, Die wet van Gauteng[7] was released by Human & Rousseau Publishers.
