Hanny Khoury

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Hanny Khoury (Arabic: هاني خوري‎; born 28 January 1990), also  known as Hanny Al Khoury, is a contemporary artist and the Guinness World Record Holder.[1][2]. He was born in a small town called Eilabun near Tiberias.

Palestinian-Canadian artist[3] spent several years trying to acquire his true identity through a series of trials and tribulations[4].

Migration from Palestine to Canada was not easy for him, but he remained steadfast to his true path, which was art. Like many other people, it wasn’t easy for Khoury to establish his name among the international artistic community. After trials and tribulations, he not only broke records but also established his name. He is now a successful contemporary artist presented by galleries  in New York, London and Paris. His work is also recognized by Mark Hachem[5][6]. He’s presented by multiple galleries[7],  with canvases selling for between 7,000$–25,000$. He's had multiple big-name clients such as Mohamed Hadid (Gigi Hadid's Father), Don Lemon,  the owners of Commercial Bank of Dubai, and many others around the world.

He is all set for NFT art journey. In September 2021, he released his first art-based NFT collection on Opensea, which received a tremendous response from collectors and art seekers[8].

Biography

In 2006, he graduated from high school. It was when he developed his interest in art. His first art teacher was Ola Al-Henawi, who introduced him to the artistic world and taught basic coloring techniques.[9]

In 2007, he started a visual art course at the Manshar Hamanhal College in Tel Aviv. Afterwards, due to some conflict, he left his family and  home and went to Jerusalem, where he was homeless for some time. He kept on moving between Eastern Arab and Western Jewish Jerusalem.[10]

In 2008, he was finally able to rent an apartment after doing odd jobs in Ben Yehuda Street, which is part of Western Jerusalem.[11]

In 2009-10, he started his artistic journey. He produced art named ‘’Between Reality and Imagination’’ which was presented in his first personal gallery. The artistic community was invited, but unfortunately, no one attended except a few close people.[12]

In 2011, after the failure of his galleries, he tried to reach art organizations and artistic figures, but no one responded. [13]

In 2012 - He learned from professor and lecturer at the University of Haifa  “Michael Hallaq”. Under his guidance, he acquired different ‘’Oil Painting’’ techniques and produced a series of artworks.[14]

From 2015-19, he studied and practiced art on a daily basis and expanded his skillset.[15]

In 2015, he broke the Guinness World Record.  The record was  “The Largest Mosaic Painting of Expired Toast”  with a portrait of a Palestinian poet. He became popular in the community but received backlash because of his Palestinian identity. He was still not popular among the artistic community[16]

In 2017-18, he immigrated to Canada far from the problems of the Middle East. His new life chapter was totally different from the past. He produced new artwork which was admired by collectors and art seekers.[17]

In 2019, lecturer and art seeker Mr. George Al-Aama held an art gallery named “The Chaos of Senses”  for Hanny Khoury. It was extended from 1 to 2 months as it went successful. Many said it was a successful gallery in the history of any Palestinian artistic movement.[18]

In 2020 in Abu Dhabi, “Break” was a group exhibition hosted by art booth Salwa Zeidan gallery. [19][20][21] Solo exhibition Edmonton City Centre on Pedway Level across from RBC and beside Boulevard Diamonds[22]

In 2021, he stepped into the realm of non-fungible tokens or commonly known as NFTs. He launched his NFT-based art collection named ‘’Wopa Land’’. Digital art pieces went live on the Open Sea platform with a starting price of 1.00 ETH. Unlike his previous art journey, he was very lucky in NFTs. He sold 8.5 ETH, equivalent to more than 35,000 USD, just within a timespan of 2 weeks. His aim is to sell 100 ETH worth of NFT art in 2021.

His 2022 goal is to achieve 1000 ETH sales, although it seems unrealistic, he is up against the tides and all set to rock the artistic NFT domain.
