HappyHappy
HappyHappy is an Indianapolis, Indiana-based musical act written and performed by Evelyn Ryan since 2015 [1]. While she describes herself as “folk punk adjacent"[2], the majority of her discography varies in genre from folk punk to hyperpop.
Evelyn Ryan was born on August 9, 1996 in Provo, Utah. She has lived and traveled most of the United States, but most notably has lived in Utah, California, New Mexico, Texas, South Dakota, and Indiana, each influencing her unique and sincere lyricism and songwriting.
HappyHappy is most notable for her jubilant sound juxtaposed with deeply depressing lyrics. The majority of her songs deal with issues involving mental health, transitioning, past relationships, and mania. She also notably references obscure horror movies throughout her entire body of work. Though her mixing has become increasingly complex over her musical career, her live shows are normally played with only an acoustic guitar.
Evelyn's favorite food is Indian. She has a dog named Indiana, named after the Indiana Jones franchise rather than the state.
