Early life and education

Since the early 1900s, the Link family developed close ties to Asia. His great grandfather, Heinrich Ruedt von Collenberg, was the German Ambassador to China, located in Shanghai during the late 1800s.[12] [13]
His paternal grandfather was Adolf Link, a German pharmacist who later purchased ownership of B.Grimm. Adolf Link joined B.Grimm in 1903 and expanded the business through partnerships and prominent projects such as building Thailand’s Rangsit canals, the largest infrastructure project in Asia at the time. [5]
Link’s aunt, Alma Link, became the first foreign woman in Thailand to receive the honorary title “Khunying” by HM the King in recognition for her tireless work for charity. [12]
Link attended the University of St. Gallen and graduated in 1978 with an MBA degree. [5]

In his role at B.Grimm he expanded the business from annual revenues of $10 million to nearly $1.5 billion. Link pursued a strategy of partnering with leading global companies which he admired and sought to bring their products and services into Thailand and Southeast Asia.[12] [16]
Link built long-standing equity partnerships with companies such as Amata Corporation, Merck, Carl Zeiss, Siemens, United Technologies, Maquet, Getinge Group, Beijer Ref, KSB, and others. He continues to serve as an executive board member in many of these companies’ Thailand operations today. [2]
