Harima United is an organization of 21 towns and cities of the Harima region in Hyōgo prefecture, Japan. The goal of the organization is to solve problems that affect the area.[1]
Summary
The organization was formed on the 29th of May, 2012, and originally comprised fifteen towns and cities from the east, central, and west administrative areas of the Harima region. Six more towns and cities joined in August of the same year, bringing the total amount of towns and cities that comprise the organization to 21. Akashi city, which had originally abstained from joining in 2012, is set to join sometime in the 2014 financial year. [2] The total collective population of the organization is currently 1,560,000 people, roughly 30% of the total population of Hyōgo prefecture, and it has an approximate area of 3500 km2, or 40% of the prefectures 8396 square kilometers. 1. Structure of disaster prevention schemes
Harima United entered into an agreement with Harima Disaster Prevention when the organization was first formed.[4] The organization takes part in the annual Disaster Prevention Day, held on the 1st of September, where they conduct scenarios with Himeji City for a possible destructive earthquake that could be caused by the Yamazaki fault line.[5]
2. Tourism promotion

Harima United conducts monthly bus tours of Hyōgo prefecture's Sake breweries and tourist spots. The first tour was conducted on the 15th of September. Furthermore, in 2013, Harima United began to take advantage of support projects from the Tourism Bureau to encourage the growth of tourism through means such as Facebook, and to work on creating tours for groups of people from larger cities who are keen to experience Harima's sake culture.
2. Fudoki from Harima Kuni

Harima United provides information about Fudoki, which are ancient records of culture, geography, and oral tradition. The organization focuses on Fudoki from the Harima region. On February 17, 2014, Harima United worked in conjunction with Hyōgo prefecture to produce the picture book titled, "Harima Kuni Fudoki Monogatari", or Tales of the Harima Fudoki". They also produced the booklet, "Harima Kuni Fudoki, Furusato to Harima no Hokori". [8]
3. Work concerning "Kuroda Kanbei(Kuroda Yoshitaka)"

Harima United is currently promoting the 2014 television series titled, "Gunshi Kanbei", a drama about the man Kuroda Kanbei(Kuroda Yoshitaka), who was a Japanese daimyo of the late Sengoku through early Edo periods.
