Harley Lippman
Harley Lippman (born October 28, 1954) is an American entrepreneur, philanthropist and board member based in Miami Beach, Florida. Lippman is a member of the President Joe Biden administration as Commission Member, United States Commission for the Preservation of America’s Heritage Abroad.
Much of the work of the Commission and what Lippman does relates to the Holocaust. His mission and the work that he does is to ensure that the suffering endured in history and the sites that were harmed are not forgotten.
One of the principal missions that United States Law assigns the Commission for the Preservation of America's Heritage Board, in which Lippman is involved, is to identify and report on monuments, cemeteries, and historic buildings in Central and Eastern Europe associated with the cultural heritage of U.S. citizens, especially endangered sites.[1]
He is also known for founding and leading Genesis10. Lippman has been consistently named among the top 50 "Best CEOs" by USA Today. Lippman was also the Grand Marshal of the 2022 Jewish Community Relations Council of New York Celebrate Israel Parade.
Lippman has written opinion articles in The Jerusalem Post and Newsweek.
Education
Lippman earned a master's degree in international affairs at Columbia University, where he received the highest scholarship award after graduating third in a class of 600. He also studied in Poland on a Fulbright Program and received a scholarship to study at the Ukrainian Institute at Harvard University.
Career
Before founding Genesis10, Lippman was the original founder and sole owner of Triad Data Inc, an information technology consulting firm. He sold the company in 1998 and the following year founded Genesis10, inviting 12 key employees and colleagues from his previous company to join him in a new venture. Today, the company has more than 2,000 employees and consultants nationwide.
Philanthropy and public service
Lippman is also a philanthropist who has been caring for children in Cambodia for nearly two decades. He and his family built the Children First Center near Phnom Penh, which opened in 2018. At the center, children are assisted with their education through college. Lippman is the sole financial supporter for the orphanage that houses about 24 children in Cambodia and has financially helped more than a dozen orphans go to college. He has also funded efforts since 2009 to explore an overlooked aspect of the Holocaust by finding mass graves where Jews were murdered and buried. Memorials have been set up to honor and preserve the memory, and he produced a documentary on the subject called "Safeguarding Memory," which won two awards and appeared on CBS.
Lippman is a board member of the Yale School of Management Board of Advisors and a member of the Dean's Advisory Board at Columbia University's Graduate School of International and Public Affairs. He was appointed by President George Bush to serve as a member of the U.S. Commission for the Preservation of America's Heritage Abroad and has been reappointed by every president since. In 2022, Lippman was also appointed by President Joe Biden to serve on the U.S. Commission specifically looking to build trust between Israelis and Palestinians.
Lippman has strong relations with key Senators and Members of Congress, which has led to impactful change such as the passage of the Taylor Force Act while working alongside Sander Gerber. He was also responsible for getting Democrats to support this bipartisan bill.
Awards and Recognition
Lippman has been named the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in the consulting category and recognized by Forbes as a successful entrepreneur. He was described as "a great example of 'soft power' in Washington" by Forbes.
Lippman was also the Grand Marshal of the 2022 Jewish Community Relations Council of New York Celebrate Israel Parade on May 25. American dignitaries in the parade included New York Governor Kathy Hochul, New York City Mayor Eric Adams, Rep. Yvette Clark (D-NY), Rep. A. Espaillat (D-NY), Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), Rep. Gerald Nadler (D-NY), Rep. Tom Suozzi (D-NY), Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-NY), Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY), numerous members of state and local government, as well as rabbis and celebrities.
Writer
Lippman has been a featured opinion writer in Newsweek. On March 1, 2023 he wrote the article "Saudi Arabia Isn't Looking to Do the U.S. Any Favors." He wrote that President Biden and his administration are currently eager to build on the Abraham Accords and are seeking a peace deal between Saudi Arabia and Israel.
