Dr. Harold Hyun Suk Oh

Harold Hyun Suk Oh is the founder, president, and chairman of the Board of Trustees of World Energy Forum [1], the World Water Organization [2], and Oh Institute of New York [3]. Oh taught at various universities in the United States as a full-time faculty member, including Southeast Missouri State University [4] and the University of Charleston and as Dean and Professor of Social Science at New York Institute of Technology, and was also a Member of the Board of Trustees of Franklin University[5]. Prior to coming to academe, he was Chairman and CEO of Millennial Petroleum Co., Ltd. and served as a Christian minister. Oh holds advanced academic degrees from Yale and Cambridge Universities including a Ph.D. in Political and Social Thought.

World Energy Forum (WEF)[edit]

Harold Hyun Suk Oh founded World Energy Forum in January, 2008 as a not-for-profit international organization. WEF held annual high-level international energy conferences at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. After organizing several international energy conferences at the United Nations, Oh organized World Energy Forum 2012 that was held on October 22-24 in Dubai, U.A.E.[6], where a number of heads of states, ministers, and leaders from international organizations and private sector and more than 3,000 delegates representing 124 countries, came together under the slogan of Safer, Accessible, and Sustainable Energy for All. Oh proposed that energy access should be a fundamental human right of every person and proclaimed October 22, the Opening Day of World Energy Forum 2012, as World Energy Day to be annually commemorated worldwide and the representatives from 60 governments and intern-governmental organizations have signed. Since then World Energy Day is internationally observed throughout the world. Oh told the participants that the mission of World Energy Forum was to facilitate a new global energy civilization.

World Water Organization (WWO)[edit]

Oh founded The World Water Organization in July 2008 as a not-for-profit international organization. WWO holds annual International Water Conferences at the United Nations and the organization is involved in water infrastructure projects and also humanitarian work such as Haiti and Japan when the two countries had earthquake.

Energy and Water Institute of New York[edit]

Harold Hyun Suk Oh founded Energy and Water Institute of New York in July 2010 as an institution of higher learning and research on energy, water and environment. The name of the institution was changed to New York Institute of Energy and Water in November, 2011. As the institution was applying for degree granting authority to New York State as a comprehensive university with multiple schools, the Board of Trustees voted to change the name of the institution to Oh Institute in August, 2013. Upon receiving degree granting authority from New York State, Oh Institute will offer Master of Business Administration (MBA) for Energy Management and Master of Business Administration (MBA) for Water Resource Management degree programs. After establishment of these degree programs, Oh Institute plan to expand to undergraduate degree programs in liberal arts and Ph.D. degree programs in energy, water, and environment.
