Harris Iqbal is a philanthropist and thought leader. He is the chief operating officer of the British Muslim-led charity Penny Appeal, which provides humanitarian relief in over 52 countries.[1] He studied at Cambridge University, where he holds an MPhil in International Development. He graduated in 2017.
Grenfell Tower[edit]
Harris Iqbal, and his charity Penny Appeal, was instrumental in responding to the fire in Grenfell Tower in 2017[2]. Volunteers for his charity Penny Appeal organised an Iftar in the wake of the fire, offering free food and drink to those who had been affected by the fire[3].
Media appearances[edit]
Harris Iqbal frequently writes columns for national press, and appears on radio and TV shows. He has been featured in Al Jazeera, [4] The Independent[5], Newsweek[6], TRT World[7], The New European and The New Arab[8].
He was also interviewed by Rachel Johnson on LBC in 2020[9], and is a regular commentator on Sky News[10].
