Background

Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture, LLC (HPA) is a Chicago-based architecture firm founded in 1987 by partners Raymond Hartshorne and James Plunkard.[1] The 55-person studio offers architecture, planning, and interior design services for commercial office, hospitality, and multi-family residential projects.[2] The firm specializes in large-scale, new construction, urban infill projects, and rehabilitation of landmark historic buildings that share a common sensibility toward placemaking.[3]

Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture was named the 2018 Firm of the Year by the American Institute of Architects Chicago.[4] Its project portfolio includes the Chicago Athletic Association Hotel,[5] Harper Court,[6] 1KFulton,[7] Randolph Tower City Apartments,[8] 811 Fulton, No. 9 Walton, and rehabilitation of the Chicago Motor Club building.[9]

HPA’s current projects include One Chicago Square, which is anticipated to be the sixth tallest structure in Chicago when complete;[10] T3 West Midtown, a seven-story mass-timber building in Atlanta’s Atlantic Yards development by Hines Interests Limited Partnership;[11] and Nashville Warehouse Co., a $100 million mixed-use development with 300+ multi-family residential units, multiple office buildings totaling 200,000 SF, and a music venue on a 5.2-acre site.[12]
