Hasidic music is a genre of Ashkenazi Jewish music characterized by Hasidic Yiddish lyrics, melodies and liturgy. Hasidic music encompasses cantorial and choral songs and varies in style by sect, and is popular in Jewish wedding grammen for Mitzvah tantz. Many Hasidic sects, such as Vizhnitz were distinguished for their music from the early Hasidic era, and some newer forms of Hasidic music, such as Carlebachian music have emerged in modern times.
