Hassan Golnaraghi (Persian: حسن گلنراقی ; born 1921 – died 1993) was an Iranian singer, known for the song "Mara Beboos" (Kiss Me).
Artistic life
After completing his high school education, Golnaraghi engaged in his father's business, which involved buying and selling antique crystal and china.[1]
Golnaraghi is primarily known as a prominent singer. The song "Mara Beboos" is one of the songs he sang. This song is among the most nostalgic and widely listened to Iranian songs. One reason for the popularity of this song is its association with the 1953 Iranian coup d'état, during which its melancholic lyrics resonated with millions of Iranians affected by the coup. Another reason is that the poem was written by Heydar Raqabi, a political activist from the 1930s in Iran.
The music for the song "Mara Beboos" was composed by Majid Vafadar, and it featured the violin performance of Parviz Yahaghi. The song was initially used in a film starring Zhaleh Olov, and later, it found its way to the radio.
Health and death
In the final years of his life, Golnaraghi suffered from Alzheimer's disease and a brain tumor. He died in Mehr month of the year 1993 in Tehran. Golnaraghi was interred in the old cemetery of Emamzadeh Taher located in Mehrshahr, Karaj.
