The Hastings Sodbusters are a collegiate summer baseball team in the Expedition League, playing in the Clark Division.[1] The Sodbusters have been members of the Expedition League since its first season in 2018. Their home field is Duncan Field in Hastings, Nebraska.[2] The team is co-owned by Bryan Frew and Scott Galusha.[3] The Sodbusters had their best season in 2018, earning the Clark Division wild card spot.[4] They dropped the one game playoff to the Western Nebraska Pioneers 7-2.[5] Trey Kissack winning Expedition League Pitcher of the Year that same season.[6] Kissack also owns the Expedition League all-time records for Wins (10) and Strikeouts (145). Former Sodbuster Shawn Barrowdale holds the single season record for strikeouts for a batter at 62.[7]

Prior to the start of the 2020 season, the Sodbusters held a 60-69 record in the Expedition League.[8] They finished the 2019 season 29-36, 20 games back of the Western Nebraska Pioneers in the Clark Division. They enjoyed a better second half, going over .500 (17-16) then first half (12-20).[9] The Sodbusters brought 17,171 fans to Duncan Field in 2019, averaging 572 fans per contest.[10]

For the 2020 season, the Sodbusters are playing a truncated 52-game season, with a smaller Expedition League due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[11]
