Hatch (formerly Makeably) was a New York City-based custom goods e-commerce website.[2]

Overview[edit]

The website was founded by ex-Google employees Anastasia Leng and Ryan Hayward in November 2012 originally as "Makeably".[2][3] The website was originally launched as a way to connect buyers with makers and other artisans who created unique items ranging from apparel to household goods.[4] As of June 2014, the company has raised $1 million in total funding.[2]

The company raised $650,000 in June 2013, led by Great Oaks Venture Capital, with participation from 500 Startups and other angel investors.[4]

In October 2013, the company rebranded as Hatch, and shifted focus to allow customers to tweak and suggest changes to the makers of the products on the website.[5]

Hatch was named among Time Inc.’s “10 NYC Startups to Watch” in 2014.[6]
