Hatcher+
Hatcher+ (Hatcher Plus Pte Ltd) is a Singapore-based venture firm that uses AI and machine learning-based technologies to identify early-stage opportunities in partnership with leading accelerators and investors, worldwide, enabling fund managers to create large portfolios consisting of thousands of startups.[1].
Hatcher+ was founded by John Sharp, Dan Hoogterp, and Wissam Otaky[2] in July 2016. Investors in Hatcher+ include Singapore-based billionaire Taizo Son and several additional family offices[3]. Hatcher+ continues to manage Hatcher Pte Ltd, a Singapore-based private holding company that invested in 13 startups from 2013 until 2016[4]. Eight of the companies are currently operational, including Dropsuite, Hatcher+, SocialCops, Telr, and ThoughtRiver[5].
Hatcher+ co-invests in partnership with a number of leading accelerators worldwide, including BlueChili (AU)[6], Fashion Technology Accelerator (IT)[7], Innova/ZeroTo510 (US), Luiss Enlabs(IT)[8], Quake Capital (US)[9], Sente.Link (US)[10], Stadia (US)[11] and ThinQbate (IN)[12]. The company typically invests USD50,000 at the initial stages, and up to USD200,000 in additional follow-on capital[13]. As of January 31, 2019, the company managed a portfolio of 60 venture-backed startups[14] and was recently ranked (December 2018) as the second-most active seed stage investor in the world in the PitchBook Global League Tables for Q3 2018[15].
Hatcher+ has established its Hatcher+ H2 Fund in the Cayman Islands and the Fund is managed by First Degree Global Asset Management[16], a firm regulated by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS). In addition to this traditional fund structure, Hatcher+ has established an exchange-tradable structure in Ireland that allows limited partners in the EU and other non-US jurisdictions to invest in the Fund via an ETN (Exchange Traded Note) that is tradable OTC on the Euronext (Amsterdam) and Weiner Bourse exchanges[17]
