Hawkesbury Gold is an aspiring community radio station currently broadcasting on a temporary licence shared with Hawkesbury Radio.[1][2] Hawkesbury Gold broadcasts from 12pm Sundays to 12pm Wednesdays. The broadcast area covers the Hawkesbury region and broadcasts on 89.9 mHZ FM. The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) issued a licence period expiring on 5th December 2018.[3]

History[edit]

In October 2015, The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) found community radio station Hawkesbury Radio in violation of its licence as a community broadcaster for failing to encourage community participation in the operations of the station. Following a lack of improvement by the station, the ACMA revoked Hawkesbury Radio's licence as a community broadcaster with the licence expiring on 3rd October 2017.[4] After having its broadcasting licence revoked by the ACMA, Hawkesbury Radio was given a 12-month temporary licence which it had to time-share with two other organisations. One of the organisations being Hawkesbury Gold.[5]

Programming[edit]

Hawkesbury Gold currently features a number of live programs presented by station members. Much of the stations original programming has been replaced as presenters left the station due to disagreements with the board of Hawkesbury Valley Community Radio Association.[6] The station responded by re-launching with a new logo and website.[7]

On 25 June 2018, Hawkesbury Gold 89.9 FM begun syndicating Planet Country with Big Stu & MJ on Tuesday afternoons from 4pm.[8] The syndication is a replay of the live show airing the night before on SWR Triple 9 FM.
