Hayden Lee (born May 31, 1989) is a British long distance motorcycle rider. He is most known for travelling through 42 countries in mainland Europe.
Mainland Europe Journey[edit]
Between October 2017 and September 2018, Hayden rode his 2004 Harley-Davidson 883c, 'Gloria' around 42 countries in mainland Europe in one continuous journey. The ride took 341 days, spanned 16,000 miles (25,750 km) and was documented on the podcast, Travel Stories Podcast.[1]
Route Taken[edit]
Hayden entered France from the Channel Tunnel into Calais, crossing the country and over the Pyrenees into Spain. After riding along the coast from Barcelona to Cadiz, passing through Gibraltar, he entered Portugal, riding north until Figueira da Foz. After riding through the centre of Spain, then through Andorra and Monaco, he entered Italy through the city of Genoa. After going through Vatican City and San Marino he rode south through the Balkans (Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, Kosovo, Albania and Macedonia), then riding through Greece, Turkey, Bulgaria, and Romania (including the Transfăgărășan mountain pass). From Bucharest, he rode east to Moldova and Ukraine, turning back around to go from the east of Romania to the west, entering Hungary, then Slovakia and Czech Republic. After visiting the Harley-Davidson 115th Anniversary event in Prague, he rode north into Poland, Belarus, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. After catching a ferry to Finland he rode through Sweden, Norway and Denmark, entering Germany from the north and riding through to the south. The ride was completed by riding through Austria, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, and Belgium, re-entering France and returning to the United Kingdom through the channel tunnel.
Previous Journeys[edit]
In 2015, Hayden rode a Honda Wave 110cc motorcycle through Vietnam, from Vĩnh Long to Hạ Long. Hayden bought the motorcycle for 4,620,000 đồng (£150)) in Vĩnh Long, then completed the 1400 mile (2250 km) journey in 25 days, going on to sell the motorcycle for 4,930,000 đồng (£150) in Hanoi.
