Hayley Hersh is an American music producer, songwriter, and audio engineer. She is known for her contributions to projects by artists including Tyga, Chris Brown, The Wanted, The Game, and YG. Her performances, writing, and engineering credits include appearances on the albums Careless World: Rise of the Last King (2012), Hotel California (2013), and Word of Mouth (2013). In 2014, she composed production music for Hans Zimmer’s collective Bleeding Fingers Music, with cues licensed for television shows including RuPaul’s Drag Race, Love & Hip Hop, Catfish: The TV Show, America’s Next Top Model, MTV Floribama Shore, and BoJack Horseman.

Career

Hersh began her career in 2000 at Streetlight Productions, working under producer John "Fingazz" Stary. During this time, she co-produced and co-wrote "The Life I Live" with rapper Kurupt and contributed production to four tracks on Mr. Shadow’s album Expekt the Unexpekted.[1]

From 2002 to 2007, Hersh worked as a re-recording mixer for Elastic Media Corp, contributing audio post-production for anime and broadcast titles including Duel Masters, Stratos 4, and Zegapain.

In the early 2010s, Hersh collaborated with producer Jess Jackson on Tyga’s projects. Between 2011 and 2015, she contributed to several of Tyga’s albums and mixtapes, including Well Done 2, Well Done 3, #BitchImTheShit, and Hotel California. On these projects, she served as an assistant engineer and provided instrumental performances on piano and guitar.[2]

Her performance and writing are featured on Tyga’s 2012 album Careless World: Rise of the Last King. Hersh co-wrote and played piano on "Love Game" and "Light Dreams," the latter of which also includes her guitar performance.[3] Her contributions are registered with ASCAP.[4]

In 2013, Hersh was credited as co-writer and pianist on "Running Out of Reasons" from the album Word of Mouth by British-Irish boy band The Wanted. The album debuted at number nine on the UK Albums Chart.[5]

She was also credited as an assistant engineer on the 2015 album Fan of a Fan by Chris Brown and Tyga, a commercially successful collaboration that reached the Billboard Top 10.[6][7]

In addition to engineering and writing, Hersh mixed tracks such as "Hell Yeah" by YG featuring Chris Brown and Tyga,[8] and contributed piano performance on AJ Mitchell’s "Mind (Demo)". She also composed television cues for Bleeding Fingers Music, with placements across multiple series.

In 2018, Hersh appeared on the *Female Mixing Engineers* podcast, where she discussed her career in production and songwriting.[9]
