Hazel Dawn Jr. (September 7, 1928 – October 7, 2020) was an actress and singer in film, television and the stage. She was born Dawn Gruwell on Sept. 7, 1928, in New York City, daughter of the silent film star Hazel Dawn, with whom she is sometimes confused, and mining engineer Charles Gruwell. She started work in film in 1943 in *The Youngest Profession* (1943) followed by *Margie* (1946). She went on to feature in such television shows as *The Prudential Family Playhouse* (1950), *Fairmeadows, U.S.A.* (1951), and *Ponds Theater* (1953). She married Dr. Ira Kaufman on Dec. 23, 1951. They had five children.
