He Jing (shell merchant)
He Jing (Chinese: 何径) is one of the largest Chinese shell merchants who established the Ganvana shell museum at Shanghai.[1]
Life
He was born in 1969, graduated from the Bioscience Department of Shanghai Jiaotong University in 1991, and got a master’s degree in Biochemistry Engineering from Tsinghua University in 1994. [2]
Taxonomy
He gets along well with the taxonomic trouble-maker [3] Nguyen Ngoc Thach [4][5] He enjoyed the taxonomic work written by Thach: Dr. Thach contributes to the malaco fauna of Vietnam with three books and is still preparing the fourth. However, Thach’s taxonomic operation is similar to what He did[3]. However, He denies the relevance and accuses him of splitting species.[6]
Plagiarism
"Families of Mollusks. A Classification of Worldwide Mollusks"[7][2] is a translation of Taxonomy of the Gastropoda (Bouchet et al., 2017)[8], but He Jing does not mention anywhere in the book that it was translated from Taxonomy of the Gastropoda (Bouchet et al., 2017). His earlier blog post hinted that he had a good relationship with the employees of National Museum of Natural History, France and took a photo with Philippe Bouchet. [9]
