History
Healthy Planet was founded in 1995 by Ayoob Dadabhoy in Toronto, Ontario.[1] The business began as a small kiosk on Danforth Avenue before expanding into a bulk food store at Parkway Mall in Scarborough.[2]
In 1998, the retail concept was further developed under the name Healthy Planet.[2]
Following the death of founder Ayoob Dadabhoy in 2021, leadership of the company continued under his son, Asif Dadabhoy, who serves as President.[2]
Operations
As of 2026, Healthy Planet operates 43 retail locations throughout Ontario. The company also operates an e-commerce platform that serves customers across Canada. Healthy Planet has announced plans to evaluate additional locations in Ontario, including Toronto and Burlington, as part of its expansion efforts.[3]
The company’s executive team includes Asif Dadabhoy, who serves as President, and Muhammad Mohamedy, who serves as General Manager for Healthy Planet’s retail operations.[4]
The company has also expanded select store formats to include an in-store food concept known as Healthy Planet Kitchen, offering prepared meals, soups, salads, wraps, smoothies and other ready-to-eat items within certain locations.[5]
